The new Social Safeway will continue to promote the character and historic nature of this part of Georgetown. Maintaining the open, inviting atmosphere that defines why most people call this store the Social Safeway.
In order to bring this exciting new lifestyle concept to the residents of Georgetown, the existing Safeway will be razed and the new store will be moved to the front of the existing parking lot. By bringing the store to the sidewalk, it will make it more pedestrian-friendly and bridge the gap between Georgetown and Glover Park.
The building will be two stories with Safeway located on the second floor. There will be two levels of parking. Parking will be located on the ground floor, covered by the store and on a deck in the rear of the building. Entrances will be located along the street, on the ground floor parking level and at the parking deck in the rear. The store will have an expanded seating area with a balcony overlooking Wisconsin Avenue
In addition, plans call for approximately 7000 square feet of street level small shops on the ground floor with entrances on Wisconsin Avenue.
