About SAFEWAY'S Lifestyle STORE
Over the past couple of years, Safeway has introduced a new lifestyle format for their stores to bring customers all the conveniences and choices they have come to expect in a quality, modern grocery store setting.
With expanded specialty sections and a wider variety of products, as well as a café and coffee shop, the new Social Safeway will offer the feel of traditional grocery store with the history and architectural style people have come to expect in Georgetown. The new Social Safeway will include such amenities as a hearth oven, organic produce and of course a Starbucks to name a few.
The lifestyle format is a nationwide initiative adopted by Safeway to invest over $100 million to renovate and redevelop all of our existing stores by 2010. To provide a better shopping experience, the goal is to have an inviting decor with warm ambiance and subdued lighting, heavy redesign of store layout, and the addition of in-store Starbucks kiosks.
With the development of the City Vista location and the redevelopment of the Social Safeway, it will mean that 9 of the 17 stores located in the District of Columbia will have been transformed to the new lifestyle center.
